Dubbing and Voice Translation

We edit and sometimes translate episodes using Riverside and ElevenLabs, the same AI tools you may have heard of if you've looked into podcast production. Riverside's AI Translation can take a recording and generate a version in another language using a voice model built from the original speaker's tone and cadence. ElevenLabs powers similar voice work on our end, including cleanup and correction on audio that didn't come through clean. Neither tool runs on your voice without us telling you first.

Most episodes need none of this. They go out the way they were recorded. AI dubbing or voice correction only comes into play when there's an actual reason for it, usually a language gap with part of our audience or a technical problem in the original audio that can't be fixed any other way. When that's the case, we'll say so before you record, not after the fact.

Consent for this only works if it's informed, explicit, and specific, which is the same standard ElevenLabs holds its own users to before anyone can clone a voice. Informed means you know exactly what could be generated from your voice and why. Explicit means you've said yes, not that we assumed yes because you didn't object. Specific means that yes covers this episode and this use, nothing else. Agreeing to AI translation for one interview doesn't carry over to a different episode or a different purpose down the line.

That also sets the boundary on what we won't do. We won't use your voice, a translated version of it, or any AI-generated output built from your interview for anything outside the episode you agreed to. No ads, no promotional clips repurposing your voice, no building a standing voice model to draw from later. If a use ever falls outside what's described here, we come back and ask, before we touch anything.

Every AI-generated file we produce stays traceable back to the account and episode that created it. Nothing gets published without someone here reviewing it against the original recording first.
